SkandiHus x Wabi Skincare | Soap and Dish Making Workshop | Saturday 21 September 2019, 10am - 3.30pm | E5 Studio

120.00

The SkandiHus studio are teaming up with skincare goddess Sarah Pouros of Wabi Skincare, to bring to you a day of clay and alchemy in our beautiful light-filled studio in Hackney Downs. Throughout the day, you will cover a range of making techniques taught by both studios, and can expect to come away with a beautiful soap dish created entirely by your own hands, and two soap bars made to your own custom recipe.

Course Structure

The day will be split into two sessions. The morning session will be taught by the SkandiHus team, and will cover a short introduction to the studio, the materials and hand building techniques. Under our guidance, you will create your own beautiful, unique soap dish that any bathroom sink would be proud to sit next to.

After a short break for lunch, the workshop will resume with Wabi Skincare founder Sarah Pouros, who will teach you how to make your own cold process soap bars. Each guest will make two bars of soap, and will have a choice between a selection of natural essential oils and colourants to make the soap unique to them. There will be a tutorial at the beginning of the class about which scents and ingredients lend themselves well to cold process soap making. Sarah will then guide guests to create their own bars following one of her original recipes.

The soap dish needs to be dried, fired, glazed, and fired again following your course. Similarly, your soap bars need one day to set, and thirty days to cure once they have been made. Both your soap and soap dish will be available for collection approximately eight weeks after your class.

Materials

The price includes all clay, materials, and firings. There will be tea and coffee available throughout the class.
