About the Course

Join our one-week immersive pottery class for both seasoned pros and total newbies! Dive deep into the world of pottery at the beautiful Walthamstow studio for a mini “clay-cation”. From crafting Scandinavian - inspired masterpieces to meeting new friends, it’s all about learning techniques and getting creative. Ready to unleash your inner potter?

The course spans one week in August, with a final glaze session on Sunday 1st September (4.30 - 8.30pm), to glaze all pieces made during the course.

Each student will also be gifted one of our bespoke SkandiHus aprons and a snazzy SkandiHus tool kits on the first day and this will be yours to keep at the end of the course.

Materials

All of our students use our buff stoneware clay and have access to a full range of tools, slips, moulds, and use of our SkandiHus glazes, which are mixed in-house and used by our founder, Stine, for her own work.

What to Bring

Please bring clothes that can get dirty, creative energy and ideas!

We will send you our student handbook prior to the start of the course, with all the information that you need to know.

What if I miss a class?

Please note that we cannot accommodate students making up missed classes at other times, nor can we allow students to swap their classes to another date. Please therefore make sure before booking that you can attend all dates including the glaze session.

Help us help the planet

At SkandiHus we do everything we can to limit our impact on the environment, and to have a positive impact on the world for both people and the planet.

In our studios we recycle as much material as possible; from our clay and glazes, to spare containers, and even spare kitchen utensils and make-up brushes. We use 100% recyclable paper and vegetable based ink for our marketing materials in our clay kits and our tote bags and aprons are made from organic cotton. Our electricity comes from 100% renewable sources (this includes the electricity used to power our kilns and wheels), and any gas we use is 100% carbon-neutral.

Here are a few ways that you could help us to help Mother Earth:

- We’ll give each student a piece of plastic and a board to wrap their work in at the beginning of the course. Please take good care of both of these as they’re part of your tool kit for the course. Reuse this plastic as much as possible throughout your course and only ask for new plastic if it becomes completely unusable (Mother Earth will thank you later).

- When returning to collect your fired work, please bring any newspaper or bubble wrap that you may have lying around at home to transport your pots safely.

Refund Policy

Our summer intensive courses are exchangeable up until 28 days prior to the start of the course. After this, your booking is non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

Our refund policy is strict because it enables us to pay our staff a fair wage, and remain accessible as a studio. Each week we get 8-10 requests and if we were to accommodate each one, we would be forced to lower our staff wages or increase our prices - both of which we really want to avoid. We hope you understand that this is why there are no exemptions to our refund policies.
